Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday claimed that if the Congress, BJP, or Shiromani Akali Dal returned to power in the state, they would be the first to discontinue the public welfare schemes currently benefiting Punjab residents.
Addressing a public gathering in Mukerian, Mann dismissed the opposition's claims of forming the next government, challenging them to first secure at least 60 Assembly seats. "They are talking about becoming Chief Minister, but let them first show how they will win 60 seats," he said.
The Chief Minister also targeted the Shiromani Akali Dal over its opposition to the proposed sacrilege law, questioning why the party failed to enact such legislation during its five terms in office.
Taking a swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Mann said that while Gandhi had spoken of taking all Punjab Congress leaders on a bus tour across the state, they might board the same bus together but would end up getting off after fighting among themselves.
Mann also announced development initiatives for Mukerian, appealing to residents to provide land for a new government college. He assured that if land was made available, the state government would establish a modern government college equipped with advanced facilities. He further announced that the hospitals in Hajipur and Mukerian would be upgraded with state-of-the-art infrastructure and medical facilities.
