Padamjeet Mehta has been elected Mayor of the Bathinda Municipal Corporation for the second time after receiving unanimous support from all 50 councillors. The decision was taken with the consent of all elected members during the corporation meeting.

Punjab Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian said the Bhagwant Mann government has carried out extensive development works across the state and created employment opportunities for a large number of people. He added that the public's support for the Aam Aadmi Party was reflected in the municipal election results.

The minister also praised Mehta's previous tenure, stating that the city witnessed significant development over the last one-and-a-half years.

According to him, this performance led to Mehta's re-election as councillor and his unanimous selection as mayor. He further said that the elections for Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor will also be held with the consensus of all councillors.
