Punjab Newline | Pathankot
Residents of Lamini and Vishwakarma Nagar in Ward No. 6 of Pathankot have been grappling with a severe power crisis, with electricity supply remaining completely disrupted for nearly 96 hours. The prolonged outage has left families struggling to cope with intense heat and humidity, making daily life increasingly difficult.
With no electricity, essential household appliances such as fans, coolers, air conditioners, and refrigerators have remained non-functional. The scorching weather has particularly affected children, senior citizens, and critically ill patients, who are facing the worst hardships.
According to local residents, Powercom employees repair faults during the day, but the problem returns every night when sparks emerge from the transformer, causing another power failure. As a result, residents have been forced to spend sleepless nights without cooling facilities.
Frustrated by the ongoing situation, residents called BJP North Mandal President Nipun Gupta and Aam Aadmi Party leader and Ward No. 7 Councillor Abhi Sharma to inspect the area. Both leaders assured residents that if Powercom fails to provide a permanent solution, they will set aside political differences and jointly stage a protest, including gherao of the concerned officials, to ensure the issue is resolved.
