In a major breakthrough in an alleged espionage and anti-national activities case, Pathankot Police have arrested three more accused from Gurdaspur for allegedly sharing sensitive information related to Indian Army and paramilitary force movements with Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI through CCTV surveillance systems.
Among the newly arrested accused is Hardeep Singh, the real brother of the main accused Baljit Singh alias Beetu. Police said Hardeep helped conceal the mastermind’s mobile phone during raids and attempted to shield him from law enforcement agencies.
Two other accused, identified as Baljinder Singh alias Vicky and Taranpreet Singh alias Tannu from Sandalpur village in Gurdaspur district, were also arrested. According to police sources, both were allegedly in direct contact with Pakistani ISI handlers and acted as intermediaries in the network.
With these arrests, the total number of accused held in the case has risen to five. One suspect remains absconding, while two others are already lodged in jail.
Investigations by police and security agencies revealed a highly sophisticated conspiracy allegedly aimed at spying on strategic military movement.
The accused had reportedly selected a shop located between Bridge No. 4 and 5 near Sujanpur on National Highway-44, a route frequently used by Indian Army and paramilitary convoys.
Special CCTV cameras were installed at the location in such a way that military vehicle movement and convoy patterns could be clearly monitored and recorded. The live CCTV feed and recorded footage were allegedly streamed directly over the internet to ISI handlers sitting in Pakistan.
Officials said the revelations have shocked security agencies due to the sensitive nature of the surveillance operation.
