After inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for road, healthcare and housing projects worth over ₹6,600 crore at PEC in Chandigarh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Jalandhar on Friday to launch a series of major infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity across Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.

Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon welcomed the Prime Minister by presenting him with a shawl and a portrait of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

At the event, PM Modi inaugurated rail and road projects worth ₹5,470 crore and virtually inaugurated 75 Amrit Bharat railway stations across the country.

He also flagged off the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, the Amritsar–Varanasi Express, the Kartoli (Punjab)–Ambala Express train service, and the Daulatpur Chowk–Kartoli Punjab new railway line. The projects are expected to significantly strengthen transport connectivity between Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.

Prime Minister also interacted with children travelling aboard the newly launched Amritsar–Varanasi Express and met Sant Niranjan Das during his visit. He was welcomed by members of the cultural troupe at the venue.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu accompanied the Prime Minister. Modi acknowledged the crowd by waving to supporters before wearing a green turban associated with farmers' leaders and proceeding to address the public gathering.

The rally was attended by several prominent leaders who recently joined the BJP after leaving the Aam Aadmi Party, including Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Harbhajan Singh, and Ashok Mittal. However, former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was not present at the event.
