Punjab and Chandigarh continue to experience intense summer heat, with the Meteorological Centre in Chandigarh issuing a yellow heatwave alert for Chandigarh and nine districts across the state on Tuesday. However, weather conditions are expected to change from June 11, bringing some relief from the extreme temperatures.

According to the weather department, heatwave conditions are likely to affect parts of Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, Barnala, Mansa, and Sangrur, especially areas bordering Rajasthan. Dry weather is expected to persist, while strong winds with speeds of 50–60 kmph are also forecast.

The state’s average temperature has increased by 0.9 degrees Celsius, remaining 3.8 degrees above normal. Bathinda recorded the highest temperature at 46.8°C, the highest recorded in the district so far this June. Temperatures across Punjab ranged between 40°C and 46.3°C, reflecting the severe heat gripping the region.

The weather department has also indicated the possibility of hailstorms in some districts over the next two days, alongside heatwave conditions, as changing weather patterns begin to influence the region.
