The Punjab State Election Commission has announced the schedule for the municipal council elections of Dinanagar, Gurdaspur, Qadian, and Sham Chaurasi in Punjab. According to the commission, the general elections for these municipal councils will be held on June 10, 2026.

With the announcement of the election schedule, the Model Code of Conduct has come into immediate effect in the concerned areas and will remain in force until the completion of the entire electoral process.

As per the official notification, the filing of nomination papers will begin on May 28, 2026. Candidates will be able to submit their nomination forms at the offices of the respective Returning Officers between 11 am and 3 pm.

The commission further stated that voting will be conducted on June 10 from 8 am to 4 pm. Counting of votes will begin on the same day immediately after polling concludes.

Authorities have assured that all necessary administrative and security arrangements have been put in place to ensure free, fair, and peaceful elections.

The schedule has been issued based on a notification under the Punjab Municipal Act, 1911 by the Department of Local Government Punjab.

Following the announcement, political parties and potential candidates have intensified their preparations. Local political activities are expected to gain momentum as campaigning begins to pick up around key civic issues in the region.
