Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday distributed appointment letters to 355 newly recruited youths for various government departments under the state government's Mission Rozgar initiative in Chandigarh. During the event, Mann highlighted his government's employment efforts while strongly criticizing the Centre over recurring examination paper leak incidents.

Addressing the gathering, Mann said the country is facing a worrying situation where even major examinations like NEET are not being conducted smoothly. He claimed that 93 examination papers have been leaked across India since 2017, describing paper leaks as a serious blow to the dreams and aspirations of young candidates.

The Chief Minister said students spend years preparing for competitive exams with the hope of securing a better future for themselves and their families. However, their hard work becomes meaningless when examination papers are allegedly obtained illegally before the test by those with financial influence, he added.

Mann contrasted the situation with Punjab, stating that no recruitment examination paper leak has been reported in the state during the last four-and-a-half years. He said all recruitment examinations conducted since 2022—including those for clerks, DSPs, patwaris, kanungos, drug inspectors, doctors, nurses, linemen and other government posts—have been held in a transparent manner.

He further claimed that recruitment results were declared transparently and successful candidates were informed directly through official messages, inviting them to join their respective positions.

The Chief Minister also said that young people across the country are frustrated after paying examination fees, travelling long distances to test centres and bearing significant expenses, only to later learn that exams have been cancelled or results scrapped due to paper leaks. He stressed that such incidents damage the morale of deserving candidates and undermine trust in the recruitment system.
