Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann arrived in New Delhi on Thursday to participate in the 11th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog. He is expected to raise key issues concerning the state while showcasing the Punjab government's major achievements.
During the meeting, Mann is likely to present a detailed overview of the government's initiatives and reforms in sectors such as education, healthcare, industry, employment, and skill development. He is also expected to share data on jobs generated in both the government and private sectors.
The Chief Minister may raise the issue of Punjab's pending central funds and seek the Centre's support in resolving several state-related concerns. He is also expected to push for a special financial package aimed at accelerating industrial development in Punjab.
In addition, the Punjab government is likely to highlight the unique challenges faced by the state as a border region and seek greater cooperation from the Union government.
The meeting may also include a presentation on the progress of the state's anti-drug campaign, 'Yudh Nashian Virudh' (War Against Drugs), and the measures taken to curb drug abuse.
The previous Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog was held on May 24, 2025.
