Punjab Congress has intensified its organisational activities ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections. As part of its preparations, Punjab Congress in-charge Bhupesh Baghel has convened a meeting of the State Election Committee in New Delhi on Tuesday.

According to party sources, all members of the Election Committee, along with former Chief Ministers, Members of Parliament and senior party leaders, have been invited to attend the meeting.

The meeting is expected to focus on the party's election strategy, strengthening the organisational structure and planning upcoming political programs as the Congress gears up for the Assembly polls.

The meeting has drawn added attention as the Congress high command had appointed former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi as the chairman of the Punjab Pradesh Election Committee on July 1. Channi had initially declined to accept the responsibility, making Tuesday's meeting crucial for assessing his role in the party's election campaign.

Political observers will be closely watching whether Channi and his supporters participate actively in the meeting and take on a prominent role in the Congress' poll preparations. All Election Committee members have been instructed to attend, while several senior leaders are already in New Delhi for the ongoing Parliament session.
