The Punjab government has announced summer vacations for all government, aided, and private schools across the state from June 1 to June 30 in view of the prevailing heatwave and soaring temperatures.

The orders were issued by Education Department Secretary Sonali Giri, with copies circulated to all concerned departments and officials for implementation. The month-long break aims to protect students and staff from the impact of extreme weather conditions being experienced across Punjab.

The decision comes as several regions continue to witness intense heat, prompting authorities to take precautionary measures. Schools in Chandigarh had already been closed earlier due to the severe weather conditions.
