The Detective Staff team of Panchkula District Police arrested a youth from Punjab with 50 grams and 44 milligrams of heroin during a special operation on Sukhomajri Bypass Road.
The accused has been identified as Harjit Singh, a resident of Ghalkalan village in Moga district of Punjab. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered at Pinjore Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
According to police officials, the Detective Staff team led by ASI Mahipal was on patrol and crime detection duty in the Kalka-Pinjore area when they received a tip-off near the Chandimandir light point. The informer stated that Harjit Singh had arrived in Panchkula from Punjab to supply heroin and was standing near a culvert on Sukhomajri Bypass Road.
Acting on the information, the police team reached the spot and detained the suspect based on the description provided by the informer. The accused was searched in the presence of ACP Crime Arvind Kamboj. During the search, police recovered a white packet containing a suspected narcotic substance from the pocket of the accused’s jeans.
On examination and verification, the substance was identified as heroin. When weighed on an electronic scale, the recovered heroin measured 50 grams and 44 milligrams. Police also recovered a Realme mobile phone and ₹450 in cash from the accused.
The seized heroin was sealed and taken into police possession. A case under Section 21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Pinjore Police Station. The accused will be produced before the court and taken on police remand for further questioning.
