Arvind Kejriwal arrived in Ludhiana on Wednesday along with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for a two-day visit to review preparations for the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections with the party’s top leadership.

Speaking to reporters after landing at Halwara airport, Kejriwal claimed that the political atmosphere in Punjab has become even stronger in favour of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He asserted that the party is set to surpass its previous electoral performance in the next Assembly elections.

Kejriwal said that while governments generally face public dissatisfaction after completing four years in office, the situation in Punjab is “completely opposite.” According to him, there is a positive sentiment among people towards the AAP government, and discussions around the government’s work are taking place across the state.

Highlighting the government’s achievements and welfare schemes, he said that Punjab residents are receiving free electricity and that canal water has been supplied to agricultural fields. He also referred to the implementation of an insurance scheme worth Rs 10 lakh for beneficiaries.

Kejriwal further announced that women in Punjab would soon start receiving Rs 1,000 directly in their bank accounts under the government’s proposed financial assistance scheme.

He claimed that no previous government in Punjab had worked on such a large scale and added that people are satisfied with the government’s performance, leaving the opposition without any major issue to raise.

During the visit, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also suggested that the old Sahnewal airport in Ludhiana could be developed into an aviation club. He said the move would help Punjab’s youth get training opportunities in the aviation sector and create new employment avenues.

Mann added that Punjab already has two aviation clubs operating in the state, and the government is now exploring similar possibilities for Ludhiana as well.
