Army Intelligence and Punjab Police have arrested a husband and wife suspected of spying for Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) during a joint operation.

The accused, residents of Kalu Wala village near the India-Pakistan border in Firozpur district, allegedly shared information about secret Indian Army locations and other sensitive sites with handlers across the border. A case has been registered against them under the Official Secrets Act, 1923.

According to information available, the couple allegedly passed sensitive details about Indian Army installations and strategic locations to ISI handlers based in Pakistan and Malaysia. They are also accused of providing Pakistani smugglers with important information related to the border region.

During the investigation, police reportedly recovered highly sensitive documents and information related to national security from the couple’s mobile phones. The devices are undergoing forensic examination to identify possible links with handlers across the border and other individuals who may be involved in the alleged network.

Sources associated with the investigation said the woman allegedly posed as a police officer to mislead members of the public. She is also accused of using social media platforms, including Instagram and Snapchat, to approach Indian Army personnel and allegedly attempt to obtain confidential information through honey-trap tactics.

The arrests have prompted further questioning by Punjab Police and other security agencies to establish the extent of the alleged espionage network and identify any additional suspects.

Forensic analysis of the seized mobile phones is underway. Investigators are examining digital evidence to trace communications with suspected foreign handlers and establish whether other sources in India were involved in sharing sensitive information.

Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
