Punjab Police’s Counter Intelligence unit in Amritsar has achieved a major breakthrough by arresting two operatives allegedly linked to foreign handlers and the banned outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). Police recovered two hand grenades from their possession during the operation.
According to officials, the arrests were made following a secret intelligence input. One of the accused has been identified as Ajay, son of Ram Swaroop, a resident of Bazigar Mohalla in Ajnala. He was apprehended along with another associate during the raid conducted by the Counter Intelligence team.
During the search operation, police recovered two hand grenades from the accused. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the explosives were allegedly part of a larger conspiracy aimed at disturbing peace and law and order in Punjab.
Security agencies believe the accused were planning to target government institutions and key infrastructure in the state to create panic and destabilize the atmosphere. Officials stated that timely action by Punjab Police helped foil a major terror conspiracy before it could be executed.
