Punjab Police has achieved a major breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown against drugs and illegal weapons by dismantling a cross-border arms and narcotics smuggling module. The Amritsar Commissionerate Police arrested two smugglers and recovered 2.225 kilograms of heroin, six sophisticated pistols, and 12 live cartridges from their possession.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused were in contact with handlers operating across the border. They allegedly received consignments of heroin and supplied them to criminal elements active in Punjab. Police suspect that the network may have links to international smuggling syndicates, and further investigations are underway to uncover the full extent of the operation.
Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav shared details of the operation on X, stating that the Amritsar Commissionerate Police had successfully exposed a major cross-border illegal arms and drug trafficking module. He reiterated that Punjab Police is firmly implementing a zero-tolerance policy against drugs, illegal weapons, and organized crime.
FIRs have been registered in Amritsar. Investigators are now working to identify both the forward and backward linkages of the network to trace other individuals involved and bring them to justice.
