Punjab Police on Tuesday conducted 594 raids at identified and mapped locations linked to associates of gangsters across the state as part of its ongoing ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign, which entered its 252nd day.
The campaign, aimed at making Punjab a gangster-free state, was launched by Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026. Police teams from all districts, in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), have been carrying out coordinated operations against gangster networks and their associates.
On the 252nd day of the campaign, police arrested 249 individuals and recovered six weapons. With this, the total number of arrests made under the campaign has reached 74,734.
Police also initiated preventive action against 182 persons and arrested four proclaimed offenders (POs) during Tuesday’s operations.
The Punjab Police has appealed to citizens to share information about wanted criminals, gangsters and criminal activities. Information can be provided anonymously through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Police’s anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ also continued for the 577th day.
Police arrested 110 drug smugglers during the day and recovered 10.2 kg of heroin, 500 grams of opium, 4 kg of ganja, 19 kg of poppy husk, 543 intoxicant pills and ₹4 lakh in drug money.
With Tuesday’s arrests, the total number of drug smugglers arrested under the campaign has reached 80,763 in 577 days.
As part of its de-addiction and rehabilitation efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded 22 individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on Tuesday.
