Punjab Police has dealt a major blow to a cross-border terror network by arresting two associates of a foreign-based terrorist operative. The operation was carried out by the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) in Mohali, according to Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav.
Revealing details of the operation, the DGP said that the SSOC team successfully apprehended the two suspects and recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) during the crackdown.
Preliminary investigations have indicated that the accused were allegedly involved in a conspiracy to target public infrastructure. The planned attack was thwarted due to swift police action, preventing what authorities described as a major security threat.
Police officials said the investigation is ongoing and agencies are working to identify the handlers, associates, and broader links connected to the terror network. Efforts are also underway to trace the full extent of the conspiracy and its cross-border connections.
Punjab Police reiterated its commitment to dismantling terrorist networks, curbing organized crime, and ensuring peace and public safety across the state.
