Punjab Police is significantly expanding its interstate coordination under the ongoing ‘war against Gangster’ campaign, strengthening joint operations with police forces across India to crack down on gangsters, smugglers and terror networks operating across state borders.
Emphasising public safety, the Punjab Police has been actively working beyond state boundaries to disrupt organised crime networks that often exploit jurisdictional limits. Through enhanced intelligence sharing and coordinated action with other states, the force has managed to tighten its grip on interstate criminal syndicates.
According to Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, the campaign reflects a clear commitment to ensure that criminals cannot escape justice by crossing state lines.
“We are very clear in our motto— criminals cannot just escape after committing crimes here.
The Punjab Police will track them down anywhere and ensure justice to victims. The ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign has now entered its 148th day of action. Arresting and identifying 37,757 miscreants since its launch reflects the dedication of our force. We also appreciate the support of police forces from other states in sharing critical intelligence,” he said.
Officials noted that gangsters and drug traffickers often operate across multiple states, using interstate routes to evade law enforcement. So far, Punjab Police has arrested 68,682 drug smugglers as part of its intensified crackdown.
Major successes under interstate coordination
ISI-backed espionage and terror module busted
A major breakthrough came with the dismantling of an ISI-backed espionage and terror network linked to Babbar Khalsa International. A joint operation between Punjab and Delhi police led to the arrest of 11 accused. Investigations revealed the use of encrypted communication tools and remote surveillance devices to transmit sensitive information across borders.
Action against gangster syndicates
Coordinated operations have also targeted gangs linked to Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar, whose networks span multiple states and rely on interstate mobility to avoid arrest.
Delhi-based crackdown
Earlier this year, several operatives linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang were arrested in Delhi through joint efforts of multiple state police forces.
Goldy Brar extortion module busted
Punjab Police also dismantled an extortion network linked to Goldy Brar, arresting 10 operatives and disrupting an interstate criminal structure.
Interstate robbery gang exposed
Khanna Police recently busted a gang involved in thefts, robberies and snatchings across Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, with arrests made in Uttar Pradesh after coordinated tracking.
Drone-based smuggling network uncovered
In a joint operation with Uttarakhand STF, a Punjab-based fugitive involved in cross-border smuggling of weapons and narcotics via drones from Pakistan was arrested.
Joint operation with J&K Police
In another coordinated action, Jammu and Kashmir Police and Punjab Police recovered an AK-47 rifle, a pistol and narcotics from a flat in Amritsar based on specific intelligence inputs.
DGP Yadav reiterated that inter-state coordination has become central to Punjab’s policing strategy. “Criminals and anti-national elements operate across state boundaries, and policing must do the same. Under ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’, Punjab Police is ensuring seamless cooperation with sister agencies nationwide. Those threatening peace in Punjab will find no safe haven,” he said.
The campaign continues to evolve as a key pillar in Punjab’s fight against organised crime, strengthening public safety through coordinated national policing efforts.
