Punjab has been selected to host six disciplines of the prestigious National School Games for the 2026-27 academic session, following the release of the official schedule by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI).

The championships will be held between October and December, with Ludhiana serving as the venue for all events allocated to Punjab. The competitions are expected to attract 500 to 800 athletes from states and Union Territories across the country for each sport.

Punjab will host Under-17 and Under-19 boys’ and girls’ basketball, Under-14 boys’ and girls’ fencing, Under-19 boys’ handball, Under-19 boys’ and girls’ hockey, and karate events for Under-14 boys and girls as well as Under-19 girls.

Meanwhile, Chandigarh has been awarded the hosting rights for the Under-19 boys’ and girls’ softball championships.

Haryana has also secured hosting rights for six different National School Games events this year. These include Under-19 girls’ football in Ambala, Under-19 girls’ cricket in Rohtak, Under-14 girls’ kabaddi in Dadri, Under-19 freestyle wrestling for boys and girls, and Under-17 and Under-19 Greco-Roman wrestling for boys in Panipat. The events are expected to provide a major platform for emerging school athletes from across India.
