In a major relief for rail passengers in Punjab, the Railway Board has approved the introduction of a new Sant Ravidas Express connecting Chheharta (Amritsar) with Varanasi. The new service is expected to provide direct and convenient rail connectivity for thousands of passengers travelling between Punjab and eastern Uttar Pradesh.

The train, numbered 14623/14624, has been named in honour of Sant Guru Ravidas Ji. It will operate three days a week in both directions, catering to passengers travelling for religious pilgrimages, employment, education, and family visits.

According to the approved schedule, the train will depart from Chheharta every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 2:05 pm, reaching Amritsar Railway Station at 2:25 pm. After a five-minute halt, it will continue its onward journey to Varanasi.

On the return journey, the train will leave Varanasi every Thursday, Saturday, and Monday at 7:50 am, arrive at Amritsar at 4:35 pm, and terminate at Chheharta at 5:10 pm.

As per the timetable, the train will reach Lucknow at 7:25 am while heading towards Varanasi and arrive at Varanasi at 12:15 am. On the return journey, it will depart Lucknow at 12:10 am.

The Railway Board has directed the Northern Railway to complete all operational preparations at the earliest so that the new service can be launched soon.
