Punjab has finally received relief from the intense heat wave that persisted over the past several days. On Tuesday, light rainfall accompanied by strong winds led to a significant drop in temperature across the state. The mercury fell by nearly 6 degrees Celsius, bringing it 3.2 degrees below normal levels.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for today and tomorrow, warning of strong winds blowing at speeds of 50 to 60 km/h along with rainfall across Punjab.
According to the forecast, weather conditions will remain mostly dry on May 1. However, districts such as Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, and Rupnagar may witness light to moderate rainfall at isolated places.
From May 2 onwards, weather conditions are expected to become unstable again. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for May 2, 3, and 4, during which several parts of Punjab are likely to experience rainfall and strong winds with speeds ranging between 40 to 50 km/h.
