Haryana Energy and Jail Minister Ranjit Singh stated that significant work has been done in the electricity sector in the state over the past four and a half years. He said that it's commendable that the DISCOMs are making profits for the first time, and an estimated profit of Rs.1000 crore is expected for the DISCOMs in March. Energy Minister addressed the press conference here today.
During this, he stated that officers have been directed to reduce line losses so that consumers receive uninterrupted and regular electricity supply. As a result, line losses have reduced to 10.72 percent. Line losses are expected to be reduced further in March. The connections of major electricity defaulters are being disconnected. As a result, in Jind, the connections of 18 defaulters' electricity factories were cut, increasing the availability of electricity and allowing honest users to have uninterrupted power, he added.
He said that to ensure there is no shortage of electricity in the state, a thermal plant of 800 megawatts is being set up for electricity production in Yamunanagar. A plant of Maruti is to be set up in Kharkhoda, Sonipat. The DISCOMs are ready to provide ample electricity to this plant. The installation of this plant will increase employment opportunities for the youth in the state. He said that electricity poles installed on the roads of panchayats and rural areas will be removed to avoid inconvenience to people.
