The Punjab State Scheduled Caste Commission has taken self-initiated cognizance of a case involving alleged use of caste-related derogatory language by Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu during his visit to Dhuri.
According to the commission, the matter came to its attention through social media, where videos and reports claimed that the minister used objectionable caste-related words during his public interaction.
Chairperson Jasvir Singh Garhi of the Punjab State Scheduled Caste Commission stated that the commission has examined the circulating social media content and treated the matter as serious.
Taking immediate action, the commission has directed the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Headquarters, Sangrur, to submit a detailed investigation report. The report has been asked to be furnished by 9 am on June 1.
The commission said it is closely monitoring the case based on available video links and online reports.
