A tragic incident unfolded in Jalandhar when a moving Scorpio SUV suddenly caught fire, resulting in the death of the driver, who was reportedly trapped inside the vehicle. Despite desperate efforts by locals to extinguish the flames and rescue him, the driver was burnt alive.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire spread rapidly, prompting authorities to call in the fire brigade. Firefighters, along with police personnel, managed to bring the blaze under control. However, when the flames were extinguished, the charred body of the driver was found inside the vehicle.

Police said the Scorpio bore a Kapurthala registration number, and preliminary findings suggest that the vehicle’s doors automatically locked after the fire broke out, preventing the driver from escaping.

Initial investigations indicate that a deodorant can or aerosol spray kept inside the SUV may have exploded, triggering the fire. However, officials have stated that the exact cause will be confirmed only after a detailed forensic examination.

The vehicle involved in the incident was identified as Scorpio registration number PB 09 R 3688, registered in the name of Gurpreet Singh from Kapurthala. Police have seized the burnt vehicle and the victim’s body and have launched a thorough investigation. Teams have also visited the registered owner's village to verify details and establish the identity of the deceased.

Authorities are examining all possible angles to determine how the fire started and whether any other factors contributed to the fatal incident.
