In a major breakthrough, the Jalalabad City Police foiled an alleged plan to carry out a serious criminal act by arresting six suspects and recovering illegal firearms and sharp-edged weapons during a raid. One accused managed to escape and is being pursued by the police.

According to Investigating Officer Head Constable Baljit Singh, a police patrol received specific information that several youths from Matwana Kalan and nearby villages had gathered at the premises of a closed rice sheller in Muhammedewala village with illegal weapons and were allegedly planning a major crime.

Acting swiftly on the tip-off, the police conducted a raid at the location. Six accused—Aman Kumar alias Amna, Varinder Singh, Budh Singh, Arshdeep Singh alias Singha, Karan, and Parmjeet Singh—were apprehended on the spot, while another suspect, Sajan Singh, escaped during the operation.

During the search, police recovered three illegal pistols, six magazines, four live cartridges, one spent cartridge case, and two sharp-edged weapons (kopas). All recovered weapons have been seized for further investigation.

Police said the accused are being questioned to determine the source of the weapons, the intended target of the alleged crime, and whether any other individuals were involved in the conspiracy. Raids are underway at possible hideouts to arrest the absconding suspect. A case has been registered under the relevant provisions of the law, and further investigation is in progress.
