Panic gripped passengers after a moving sleeper bus caught fire on the Ludhiana-Amritsar National Highway near Khanna in Punjab on Sunday. Around 80 passengers, including women and children, were travelling in the bus when the incident occurred.

The bus was on its way from Samrala Chowk in Ludhiana to Gonda district in Uttar Pradesh. As it reached near Bija village, close to Khanna, flames suddenly erupted in the vehicle, triggering panic among the passengers.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire spread rapidly and soon engulfed the entire bus. The driver immediately pulled the vehicle to the roadside, while the conductor acted swiftly to evacuate all passengers.

Thanks to their quick response, all passengers were safely rescued and no injuries were reported. However, the passengers lost their belongings as the luggage kept inside the bus was completely destroyed in the fire.

The timely evacuation helped avert a major tragedy. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
