Expresses concern over degeneration of AAP's ideology, vendeta politics was not agenda of the party
Kunwar Vijay Partap replies to questions of NRIs on a Canada TV channel
BRAMPTON (Canada): AAP MLA from Amritsar north and former IGP Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh has expressed serious concerns over the degeneration of AAP's idelology which reflects from day to day working of governance in Punjab.
In an interview on Canada based leading TV channel Y Media, Kunwar Vijay Partap took questions of Canada based NRIs and opened his mind on various issues including delay in justice in the Bargari and Behbal Kalan incidents of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib and present state of affairs in Bhagwant Mann government.
Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh, considered an upright cop turned politician said that he was disappointed from the handling of Bargari and Behbal Kalan sacrilege and firing incidents by the Punjab Police. He said while previous Congress governments of Parkash Singh Badal and Capt Amarinder Singh had worked agaisnt the intersts of Punjab and worked to divert the direction of investigation, he has no hope of justice either from the present Bhagwant Singh Mann government. He accused Capt Amarinder Singh for hatching a conspiracy to get rejected report of SIT headed by him. He alleged that it was a planned move that Advocate General would not appear in the High Court to defend the SIT report.
Replying to a question by a viewer, Kunwar Vijay Partap said that he had high hopes from AAP government because party supremo Arvind Kejriwal in all election meetings, he addressed with me had promised to deliver the justice to victims of Behbal kalan firing and arrest of culprits of sacrilege cases. He said that contrary to his hopes that police officers who derailed the probe of firing incidents whould be put in the jail, they were given key postings, one appointed head of intelligence wing of Punjab Police and another Commissioner of police at Amritsar.
Kunwar Vijay Partap while interacting with the TV channel Editor Yudhvir Jaswal said that people of Punjab had voted for AAP with high hopes from them after being cheated by Congress and SAD-BJP alliance on promises made by them. He said that there was a lobby of bureacrats and police officers which controlled decision making in SAD-BJP and Congress governments. The same lobby now controls the hagwant Mann government. He pointed ot that Parkash Singh Badal had kept this lobby at arms distance but when Sukhbir Badal became part of government, the lobby became active. Giving a note of advice to CM, he said there were always two ways, either you become the prisoner of the situation or you face the adverse situation. It depends on the person what he chooses, he quipped without naming anybody.
He added, unfortunately some 'Fasli Batere' (opportunist elements) had entered in the system and they misguide the political leadership in decision making. "Manish Sisodia is in jail due to actions of such elements", he made a point. He clarified that he was not against the government, he is speaking against the system. "I was victim of politics when working in Punjab Police and now again when I am in politics, I am the victim of the politics" he told TV audience.
On sacrilege cases, he said that "I have become sure that justice will never be delivered to Behbal Kalan and Kotkapura victims and accused of Bargari will go scot free", he told the TV channel. He said that had Capt Amarinder not conspired to reject SIT report headed by him(Kunwar Vijay Partap) in the high court, Captain would have been CM and he would still be working in police department. "I resigned the very next day from my IPS service which was difficult choice. Even now I am personally appeaing in Kotkapura court since government council is not putting arguments before the court.
Replying to a question on drug menace in Punjab, Kunwar Partap Singh said, there were no serious efforts to catch the big fish. AAP MLA said that a key suspect in drug case, former Akali minister Bikram Majithia was granted bail by the High Court because Punjab Police did't took him on remand to interogate in drug case. High court had put the question before advocate general, if you have nothing to investigate, why he is not released on bail? He said that former CM Charanjit Singh Channi had made the task of AAP government easy by registering the drug case against Akali leader but it was not taken to logical end. It was no use now summonng him time and again by the SIT to question. Why he was not interogated when he was in jail, he asked?
AAP MLA when asked about vendetta arrests by the Bhagwant Mann government, Kunwar said that though publically he never spoke on the issue but on party platform he raised the issue and even tried in vain to speak to Kejriwal. He said that he had opposed the arrest of Sukhpal Khaira a Congress MLA. He added that he was also against registration of cases against Kumar Vishwas, Alka Lamba and few others just to settle scores. In political ideology of AAP, there is no place for vendetta politics, he said.
Kunwar Vijay Partap further said that he joined politics on the insistance of Arvind Kejriwal. The things changed after AAP formed the government. He said that whenever Kejrowal would come to Amritsar, he used to call me receive at airport and he took me along to address election meetings around Punjab. He said that he hesitate to share that when after formation of government Kejriwal came to Amritsar, he was told not to come to airport to receive him.
Kunwar Vijay Partap said that he had joined politics to see a 'Hasda Punjab, Vasda Punjab' and he stood by his ideals of character, credibility and performance. He said that by merely saying 'I am not politician and I have not come to do politics' is just a gossip. AAP is also a political party and it is doing what ever a political pary should do. He reminded Kejriwal of his book 'Swaraj' which Kunwar says he take inspiration from it besides the constitution of India and another book 'Grammer Of Politics' written by Harold J. Laski.
He said he wanted to see his party's government successful and it is his right to criticise what is wrong. He added that people thiugh he was sidelined but he thinks otherwise because he has a role to play in democracy. He said that he was serving people of his constituency with zeal. Whenever I will get an opportunity to explain the concept of vibrant Punjab, he would sure share his ideas with the public, he told a viewer who wanted him to play part in the governance. He concluded the people were the final authority in democray and they know all about the governments.
The NRI's who came forward to ask questions to Kunwar Vijay Partap were mostly those associated with AAP including a long time AAP supporter Gurdip Singh Dhillon from Brampton. He assured Kunwar Vijay Partap he would get all the support from NRI community.
