Jalandhar Police Commissionerate and Traffic Police have implemented a comprehensive traffic management plan ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit to the city.

As part of heightened security arrangements, extensive traffic diversions have been enforced across the city as well as on routes connecting neighbouring districts. Several major roads will remain restricted for regular traffic, with vehicles being redirected through designated alternate routes.

According to the traffic advisory, key diversions will be in place at major junctions, including GNA Chowk, BSF Chowk, Pathankot Chowk, Nakodar Chowk, Kapurthala Chowk, Rama Mandi Flyover, Chugitti Underbridge, Lamma Pind Chowk, Wadala Chowk, Samra Chowk, and Urban Estate Phase-II, among others. Temporary U-turns and alternative corridors have also been arranged to ensure smooth traffic movement.

Special arrangements have been made for heavy vehicles, including trucks, container carriers, and tippers travelling from Ludhiana, Moga, and other districts. These vehicles will be diverted through alternate routes via Phagwara, Nakodar, Kapurthala, Subhanpur, Hoshiarpur, Dasuya, and Tanda to avoid congestion in Jalandhar city.

Punjab Roadways and private bus services have also been rerouted. Buses bound for Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana, and Pathankot will operate on revised routes during the Prime Minister’s visit.

Traffic ADCP Gurbaz Singh appealed to residents to avoid travelling on the VVIP route unless necessary, start their journeys well in advance, use the notified alternate routes, and cooperate with traffic police personnel to ensure smooth movement and security arrangements.
