In a major security operation, the Amritsar Rural Police, in coordination with a central agency, have arrested two individuals allegedly linked to cross-border handlers and recovered two hand grenades from their possession.
According to the preliminary investigation, the accused were in contact with handlers based abroad and were allegedly acting on their instructions. The recovery of the hand grenades points to a suspected conspiracy aimed at disturbing peace and law and order in Punjab.
An FIR has been registered against the accused at Gharinda Police Station under the relevant provisions of law. Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav stated that the Punjab Police remain fully committed to dismantling terror networks, eliminating organised crime, and ensuring peace and public safety across the state.
Police are now working to identify other individuals connected to the network and are investigating how the accused obtained the hand grenades, the purpose for which they were being kept, and the full extent of the alleged cross-border conspiracy.
