VB NABS PATWARI FOR TAKING RS 5,000 BRIBE

The Punjab vigilance bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, on Monday arrested Piyara Singh, revenue Patwari, posted at Abohar Sub-Tehsil and having charge of circle of Seeto Road Abohar, red handed for accepting a bribe Rs 5000.

Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the above mentioned revenue official has been arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by Rahul Sachdeva, a resident of Abohar.

He further informed that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the said accused has been demanding a bribe of Rs 5,000 for doing mutation of his plot which was in the name of his mother.

The complainant has recorded the conversation with the Patwari and handed over it to the VB as evidence.

The spokesperson informed that after a preliminary inquiry of this complaint the VB team has laid a trap in which the accused has been arrested while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. In this regard a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against the accused Patwari at VB police station Ferozepur range. The accused would be produced in the competent court tomorrow and further investigation into this case was under progress.
