Chaos erupted outside the Hanuman Temple on 100-Footi Road in Amritsar on Saturday night when a violent clash broke out between a group of youths, creating panic among devotees attending the evening aarti.

According to eyewitnesses, around a dozen youths arrived at the temple premises and allegedly attacked two to three young men. The altercation soon escalated into a fierce brawl outside the temple, with reports suggesting that the dispute stemmed from an old rivalry.

Witnesses claimed that some of the targeted youths ran inside the temple to save themselves. However, the attackers allegedly chased them into the premises, dragged them outside and assaulted them with iron rods, leaving them seriously injured.

During the violence, an Activa scooter belonging to one of the victims was also vandalized. The incident triggered fear among devotees and local residents, who expressed concern over such a violent episode occurring near a religious place.

Pandit Sunil Prasad, who serves at the Hanuman Temple, said police were informed immediately after the incident. A police team reached the spot between 10:15 pm and 10:30 pm and began investigating the matter.

Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the clash and are expected to take further action based on the findings of the investigation.
