News agency PTI, citing a BCCI source, confirmed that Kohli will miss the three-match One-Day International series because of a strain in his hamstring. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet issued an official statement on the matter.

According to the report, Kohli is unavailable for the ODI series due to the injury. The 37-year-old is widely regarded as one of the fittest cricketers in world cricket, making the setback a significant concern ahead of India's upcoming international assignments.

Kohli recently played a key role in helping the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secure their second consecutive IPL title. He starred in the final with an unbeaten 75-run knock against Gujarat Titans, guiding his team to victory.

Afghanistan's tour of India is scheduled to begin on June 6 with a one-off Test match at the Mullanpur Stadium. The teams will then face off in a three-match ODI series starting June 13.
