A shocking murder case surfaced in Patiala on Tuesday after the body of a young woman was found stuffed inside a blue plastic drum near the Railway Colony area. The drum, which had a red lid placed on top to avoid suspicion, was discovered lying near a garbage dump close to the DCW bridge.

Police teams rushed to the spot after receiving information early in the morning. According to officials, the body was found after a garbage collector opened the drum to check its contents and noticed a dead body inside. He immediately informed the police.

Investigating officer Gurvinder Singh said the Urban Estate police station received the call at around 5:15 am. Soon after, ASI Amandeep Singh, the SHO, and other police personnel reached the location and began the investigation.

Police said the deceased appears to be between 15 and 20 years old and is suspected to be a migrant. The woman had “Neha” tattooed on one hand, while the other hand had a heart-shaped tattoo with the English letters “N” and “A” inked inside it. Minor injury marks were also visible on her face.

The body has been sent to Rajindra Hospital for postmortem examination. Authorities said the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after the medical report is received.

Police have kept the body in the mortuary for 72 hours for identification and are trying to trace the victim through the tattoos and other clues.
