Students of class 9 to 12 allowed to visit schools in areas outside containment zones subject to written consent of their parents

CHANDIGARH: In partial modification of Unlock 4.0 guidelines in compliance with the directives of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the Punjab Government on Sunday also allowed the students of class 9 to 12 to visit their schools in areas outside the containment zones only, on voluntary basis for taking guidance from their teachers.

Higher educational institutions allowed to open in Punjab for PH.D scholars from Sept 21

CHANDIGARH: In compliance with the directives of Unlock 4.0, issued by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the Punjab Government on Saturday allowed the opening of higher education institutions for Ph.D scholars and post graduate students of technical and professional programmes requiring laboratories and experimental works from September 21. However, schools, colleges and coaching centres will remain closed.

 

Modi government deceiving people by passing anti-farmer bills: Cabinet Minister Vijay Inder Singla

CHANDIGARH: School education and public works minister Punjab Vijay Inder Singla, on Saturday, lashed out at the Modi government for deceiving people by passing three bills stating agriculture reforms as these bills will break the backbone of Punjab which is the food basket of India. The cabinet minister termed the bills anti-farmer and said that these bills would pose a major threat to the people connected agriculture, directly or indirectly. Singla said that to justify their move, BJP leaders were continuously distorting facts as per their political convenience.

CHANDIGARH: To further woo investment in the food processing sector in the state, the Punjab Government today issued a notification to constitute an advisory committee.

CHANDIGARH: Aiming to provide more relaxation in the urban areas during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Punjab Government, on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister, have announced that curfew would remain imposed only on all Sundays in all the 167 municipal towns of the State upto 30.09.2020 and no curfew to be imposed on Saturdays.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the Punjab Government said the CM has reviewed the Covid-19 situation and directed to relax some of the restrictions in urban areas. He said movement of individuals for all non-essential activities would remain prohibited between 9:30 pm to 5:00 am within municipal limits of all the cities of Punjab throughout the week.

International fliers into Punjab allowed home quarantine with up to 96-hours-old Covid negative certificate

CHANDIGARH: Amid easing of restrictions, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday announced that those flying in from abroad with Covid negative certificates up to 96 hours old can now go for home quarantine.

International travellers who getting themselves tested on arrival at the airport, as part of the Government of India’s new directives, can also go home for quarantine if found negative, he said, adding that Punjab was currently at the 17th position in the country in terms of Covid cases.

CHANDIGARH/JALANDHAR:Amid rising number of COVID cases, Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu on Tuesday inaugurated three new Community Health Centres (CHCs) in Dada Colony, Basti Guzan and Khurla Kingra, established at a cost of Rs 16 crore.

A total of 80-beds in these CHCs consisting 30-beds in Dada Colony and Basti Guzan and 20 in Khurla Kingra, has been equipped with piped oxygen supply.
