Pargat Singh Launches Major Attack on Punjab Govt Over Treatment of Traders and Business Community

Says: "While gangsters demand ransom, the Punjab Government conducts raids in the name of tax collection."

Demands that the government stop harassing traders and respect the democratic rights of farmers.

Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh-
Former Education Minister and MLA Pargat Singh has once again launched a scathing attack on the Punjab Government, raising his voice against the alleged harassment of traders and businesspersons in the state.

He alleged that while gangsters are targeting industrialists and traders with ransom demands, the Punjab Government is simultaneously harassing selected businesses through aggressive raids. He demanded that instead of intimidating the business community, the government should provide security and create a safe environment to promote economic activity.

"Repeated and selective raids have created an atmosphere of fear," Singh stated. "Many entrepreneurs are living under immense pressure, which is stifling investment and employment in Punjab."

Pargat Singh further claimed that law and order in the state has collapsed, alleging that the administration has turned Punjab into a “police state.” He noted that anti-gangster campaigns appear more effective on paper than on the ground. "Despite various claims, ransom calls, shootings, and murders continue unabated, with gangsters openly claiming responsibility. The government is merely using social media statistics to congratulate itself," he added.

The former Education Minister also labeled the state's anti-drug campaign as ineffective, alleging that the drug network remains intact and that big traffickers have not been apprehended.

Furthermore, he condemned the recent baton charge on peacefully protesting farmers, calling it a reflection of an "anti-farmer mindset" and an attempt to suppress legitimate democratic demands through force.
