Haryana Congress President Rao Narender Singh, has received relief from the Punjab and Haryana High Court in the controversial CD case.

The case dates back to the tenure of the Bhupinder Singh Hooda government, when Rao Narender Singh was serving as Health Minister. At the time, a CD surfaced allegedly showing and recording him demanding money in exchange for granting CLU (Change of Land Use) approval.

After Rao Narender Singh was appointed state Congress chief, the issue was strongly raised by the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD). Singh had dismissed the CD as a manipulated conspiracy by political opponents. INLD leaders later submitted the CD in court, seeking action in the matter.

The High Court, while hearing a petition challenging the chargesheet filed by the Anti Corruption Bureau Gurugram, has stayed further proceedings in the trial court in Narnaul for now.

The case was scheduled for hearing on Thursday in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Harshali Chaudhary in Narnaul. The matter is linked to a sting operation alleging a demand for money in exchange for CLU approval for a 30-acre land parcel in Palwal.
