Tensions have once again reached a peak in the Strait of Hormuz after alleged firing by Iran forced Indian vessels to alter their course and retreat.

The incident comes just days after the crucial maritime route had been temporarily reopened, raising fresh concerns over global oil supply, maritime safety, and regional stability.

Two Indian ships were involved in the incident. One carrying nearly 2 million barrels of Iraqi crude oil, reportedly came under fire. The second vessel, which was nearby, was not targeted. Following the incident, both ships decided to turn back from the Strait of Hormuz.

India has taken a strong stance on the matter. According to government sources, the Iranian Ambassador has been summoned and a formal protest has been lodged.

The government has treated the reported firing on two Indian-flagged vessels with seriousness and has sought an explanation from Iran. India has also emphasized the need to ensure maritime security in the region.
