The Indian Army has invited applications for recruitment in the Army Boys Sports Company in the Madras Engineering Group and Centre, Bangalore, for competitions in boxing, hockey, sailing, and swimming for the age group of 8 to 14 from February 5 to 8, 2024.
Divulging more details in this regard, an official spokesperson said that there will be trials in two age categories. In the first category, the player's age should be between February 5, 2010, and February 5, 2016, and they should have passed the III standard. In the second category, the player's age should be between February 5, 2008, and February 4, 2010, and they should have cleared at least the VIII standard, having won medals in national/international sports competitions in the mentioned games.
For the age group of 8, the minimum physical height should be 134 cm, and weight 29 kg; for age 9, height 139 cm, weight 31 kg; for age 10, height 143 cm, weight 34 kg; for age 11, height 150 cm, weight 37 kg; for age 12, height 153 cm, weight 40 kg; for age 13, height 155 cm, weight 42 kg; and for age 14, height 160 cm, weight 47 kg.

Boys Sports Company, The Madras Engineer Group and Centre, Bangalore is a joint venture between Sports Authority of India and the Indian Army that aims to select and groom young potential talent in the lower age group for future international sports competitions. Medical examinations will take place at the Army Hospital. Boys bearing any type of TATTOO on any part of their body will not be selected. After selection, players will be provided free accommodation and messing, and education from class IV to X. After passing class X and attaining the age of 17 years and 6 months, all sports cadets of Army Boys Sports Company, if eligible, shall be allowed to participate in the enrollment process for recruitment as Agniveers.
