Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh, March 1 -
Haryana Government has decided to open 8 new Government Veterinary Hospitals and 18 Government Veterinary Dispensaries across the state in the upcoming financial year 2024-25. These facilities will be established in the districts where veterinary services coverage is less in proportion to the livestock population of the area.
While stating this here today, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Minister Sh. Jai Parkash Dalal said that current state government is vigorously engaged in various initiatives aimed at advancing the welfare of cattle farmers. This commitment entails implementing policies and programs designed to enhance the livelihoods, productivity, and overall well-being of those involved in cattle rearing and husbandry. Recently, Chief Minister Manohar Lal launched 70 mobile livestock ambulances, valued at Rs 11.20 crore, to serve various districts. In addition, he also inaugurated the state's veterinary hospital call center, accessible 24x7 toll-free at 1962. Previously operating with 21 mobile ambulances, the fleet has now expanded to 91, significantly improving accessibility to veterinary services for livestock owners, he added.
In a bid to boost the fisheries sector, the Minister said that the government will introduce Soil and Water Testing facilities through three Mobile Water Testing Laboratory Vans, delivering services directly to farmers. Moreover, an additional 4000 acres will be brought under fish and shrimp culture.
Highlighting Haryana's significant contribution to the nation's milk production, the Minister said that although the state accounts for only 2.1 percent of the total bovine population in the country, its share of national milk production exceeds 5.19 percent. With a per capita daily milk availability of 1098 grams, approximately 2.4 times the national average of 459 grams per capita per day, Haryana continues to excel in dairy production.
