To make the state crime-free and improve the functioning of the police, Director General of Police (DGP), Sh. Shatrujeet Kapur held a meeting with senior police officers of the state through video conferencing. In this meeting, many important points were discussed in detail regarding dealing with criminals and eradicating crime. In the meeting, the officers who have done good work in terms of crime control shared their views and the DGP ordered the implementation of those practices in other districts.
Presiding over the meeting, Sh. Kapur said that the Superintendents of Police (SPs) should use the manpower currently deployed in the state effectively for crime control. All senior police officers should personally monitor the action taken by the police in their respective districts in serious crimes like robbery, loot, snatching, and ransom cases. Besides, they should go to the field more and more and be in direct contact with their subordinate policemen. He said that nakas (checkpoints) and PCR policing are very important, so attention needs to be paid to their deployment. He said that the more senior police officers interact with their policemen, the better the quality of work will be. He emphasized the importance of empathy. He said that the officers should be empathetic towards their policemen and the general public and try to solve their problems. Along with this, Sh. Kapur said that they should hold regular meetings with petrol pump operators, trade associations, jewellers, bank branch managers, etc. This will increase the trust of the people in Haryana Police and it will be easier to deal with the challenges of maintaining law and order in the future. In addition, the SPs should periodically review the CCTV cameras installed at various places in the city to ensure that they are in working condition. He said that the SPs should review the sealing plan and implement it effectively.
The DGP said that the SPs should also ensure the deployment of policemen at the toll plazas falling in their respective jurisdictions. They should encourage and reward the policemen who are doing good work in police stations and check posts in their districts in terms of crime control while fixing the responsibility of the negligent policemen. Appreciation and recognition of good work, he said, fosters police confidence and contributes to lower crime rates. Mr. Kapur reviewed the bail jumpers, proclaimed offenders, and proclaimed persons in the meeting and gave necessary directions.
In the meeting, Sh. Kapur said that the posts put up by gangsters on social media create a wrong image of them in the minds of the youth of the state and many times they fall prey to bad habits. In such a situation, Haryana Police is keeping a close watch on such youth who like or comment on the posts of criminals. Counseling is being done for such youth and their parents so that they can be warned in time and stay away from crime.
In the meeting, the SPs also presented the report of the work done in their respective districts in this regard. Sh. Kapur said that whenever any crime comes to the notice of the SPs, they should work in depth and try to destroy its ecosystem. This will improve the functioning of the police and will help in controlling crime in the state.
