Now you will have to pay green tax for vehicle registration in Punjab. Due to this, the fee has been increased. The government has also issued a notification in this regard. Green tax will have to be paid on renewal of registration certificate of non-transport vehicles. Fees are different on diesel and petrol vehicles. However, vehicles running on LPG, CNG, battery or solar power have been kept out of the scope of this new fee.
According to the information, for the registration of 15-year-old non-transport vehicles, petrol two-wheeler vehicle owners will have to pay 500 and diesel drivers will have to pay one thousand rupees green tax. Along with this, for four-wheeler vehicles, the fee will be three thousand for petrol and four thousand for diesel vehicles below fifteen hundred cc.
On the other hand, according to the new tax for transport vehicles, after 8 years of vehicle registration, they will have to pay the fee every year. The annual fee has been fixed at Rs 200 for commercial motorcycles, Rs 300 for three-wheelers which work as goods and passenger, Rs 500 for motor cabs/maxi cabs, Rs 1500 for light motors which work as goods and passenger, Rs 2000 for medium motor vehicles and Rs 2500 for heavy vehicles.
