Balbir Singh Sidhu holds crucial meeting with Congress workers from Mohali constituency villages regarding Block Samiti and Zila Parishad votes
Punjab Newsline, Mohali-
Today, senior Congress leader and former Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu held an important meeting at the Phase-1 office with Congress workers from villages of the Mohali Assembly constituency regarding the upcoming Block Samiti and Zila Parishad elections.
Balbir Singh Sidhu held a large meeting with panches, sarpanches, former sarpanches, Zila Parishad and Block Samiti members, Congress functionaries, respected leaders, Youth Congress, Mahila Congress, SC Cell, BC Cell, Mandal Presidents, Chairmen, former Chairmen, and all party workers. During the meeting, discussions were held on the upcoming elections, and Sidhu stated that the Congress party will win these elections with a big lead.
On this occasion, targeting the BJP-led central government and the Aam Aadmi Party, he said both the central and Punjab governments are jointly destroying Punjab. First, the central government brought three black laws against farmers; although they were withdrawn, they have still not been formally repealed. Now they are attempting to take over Chandigarh University. Through such malicious actions, the Centre is creating unrest in Punjab.
Sidhu opposed the bill being introduced in Parliament’s winter session regarding Chandigarh. He said the conspiracy being hatched by the central government against Punjab will not be allowed to succeed. Chandigarh was built by uprooting 28 villages of Punjab, and only Punjab has the rightful claim over it. “We will not let our rights be taken away,” he said.
Sidhu said that the Punjab government is acting as the Centre’s “B team.” Bhagwant Mann has become a puppet in the hands of Arvind Kejriwal and is incapable of defending Punjab’s rights. Together, they have put Punjab under such heavy debt that it cannot be cleared even in the next 30–35 years. In four years, they have pushed Punjab’s debt to four lakh crore rupees. Targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sidhu said he wants to mislead people in the name of religion to gain votes.
Questioning the BJP over vote manipulation, Sidhu said the BJP first created 25 lakh fake votes in Haryana. After that, in Bihar, where the total number of votes was 7.42 crore, 7.45 crore votes were polled during elections. “Where did these extra 3 lakh votes come from?” he asked. He said all constitutional institutions — whether the Election Commission, Supreme Court, CBI, Income Tax Department, or ED — have been turned into BJP’s puppets. The BJP will try to mislead people by distributing atta-dal schemes. “If we still don’t wake up, our children’s future will be in danger,” he said.
He added that the central government has continuously attacked Punjab’s rights. The BJP government is pushing Punjab backwards as if Punjabis have no contribution to the country’s progress. Congress will fight this battle under constitutional rights and strengthen every voice of Punjab.
Sidhu said the BJP is building national politics on the foundation of hate, religion, and division. The country’s unity, Constitution, and democracy are being weakened.
Targeting MLA Kulwant Singh, Balbir Sidhu said he has not given even a single rupee in grants for the development of Mohali’s villages, nor has he built any road or school. The Congress government had constructed a hospital in Seneta, which was almost ready, but to date, the hospital has not been made operational.
Sidhu raised questions about Punjab’s law and order, saying the situation is worsening. Daylight robberies, murders, and thefts are happening regularly. During the recent by-election in Tarn Taran Sahib, the Aam Aadmi Party created an atmosphere of fear to such an extent that people could not vote for Congress even if they wanted to.
Appealing to the public, Sidhu urged them to strengthen the Congress Party by following the guidance of Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring.
Sidhu said that the Aam Aadmi Party has not fulfilled any of the promises made to the people and women of Punjab. Instead of development, they have only focused on advertisement politics. Neither corruption has ended, nor drugs, nor gangsterism.
He said only Congress is a party that has rebuilt Punjab before and has the capability to revive Punjab’s economy, youth, agriculture, industry, and security once again. Sidhu appealed to the people, saying the key to political change in the coming times is in their hands, and they must use it for Punjab’s welfare.
On this occasion, newly appointed Mohali District President Kamal Kishore Sharma was honoured by party workers.
