Farmers will be able to apply for subsidized procurement of certified wheat seeds till October 18

GURDASPUR: As per the policy issued by the Punjab government for subsidizing certified wheat seeds for sowing during the upcoming wheat season, farmers would be able to submit their applications online from October 10 to 18.

Dr. Surinder Singh, District Agriculture Officer said that the Punjab Government would fill up the demand for wheat seeds by creating an online at .
 He said that the Department of Agriculture was providing guidance and facility to the farmers in applying for certified seeds.
He said that after receiving the applications from the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, the sanction letter would be issued online. The farmer would be informed about this via SMS on his mobile number and the farmers would be able to download this approval letter from their ID.
The department also clarified that the subsidy would be credited directly to the bank account of the farmer after verification by the department.
Subsidy only certified seeds including Advanced PBW 343, Advanced PBW-550, PBW-1, Zinc, PBW-725, PBW-677, H. .D. P3086, WH1105,HD 2967, PBW 621, WHD 943, DBW 187, D.B. W-222, h. D-3222, PBW-752 for late sowing, PBW 658. The subsidy will be 50 per cent of the seed price or a maximum of Rs.1000 per quintal.
