Department Spearheads the e-Shram Drive: Targeting Higher Worker Registration

The e-Shram portal, an initiative by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, is now being robustly implemented in Haryana. This digital platform is set to revolutionize how unorganized workers, including agricultural labourers, street vendors, domestic workers, construction workers etc access government benefits and welfare programs.

This was stated by the Principal Secretary, Labour Department, Sh Rajeev Ranjan while chairing a meeting with the officers concerned regarding the same.

During the meeting, Sh Rajeev Ranjan said that the e-Shram portal is more than a digital platform; it's an initiative to drastically improve the living standards of unorganized workers.

He said that currently, unorganized workers have to face a lot of problems, hence they are being added through registration on the e-Shram portal so that they can avail the benefits of the scheme offered by the government. He urged all the unorganized workers to register themselves on e- shram portal. Haryana labour department is committed to increasing the number of registrations under e shram, said Sh Rajeev Ranjan.

During the meeting, Sh. Rajeev Ranjan shared that Haryana is undertaking a massive drive to register unorganized workers on the e-Shram portal. This includes outreach programs across all districts, ensuring that every eligible worker is made aware and can access the portal.

He shared that each registered worker will receive a 12-digit Universal Account Number (UAN), which is valid for a lifetime enabling them to avail of benefits across the state and the country. This UAN empowers them to access a variety of benefits, including those related to health, education, and other social security schemes

Recognizing the diverse needs of its workforce, Haryana is leveraging e-Shram data to design state-specific welfare schemes that complement national programs. e-shram portal also helps in mapping the skills of Haryana's workers, where workers can fill out details of their skills, facilitating better employment opportunities and skill development programs. and detailed Migrant workers can also avail of the benefits by registering on the e - shram portal. Self-certification is also enabled for ease in registrations, informed Sh. Rajeev Ranjan.

Who can register on e-shram portal?

During the meeting, it was informed that small and marginal farmers, agricultural labourers, sharecroppers, fishermen, Those engaged in animal husbandry, Beedi rolling, Labelling and packing, building and construction workers, leather workers, weavers, Carpenter, salt workers, workers in brick kilns and stone quarries, workers in sawmills, Midwives, Domestic workers, Barbers, Vegetable and fruit vendors, Newspaper vendors, Rikshawa pullers, Auto drivers, Sericulture workers, Carpenters, Tannery workers, Street Vendors MNGRGA.

Workers, ASHA Workers, Milk Pouring Farmers, Migrant Workers Eligibility

Age should be between 16-59 years Should not be a member of EPFO and ESIC Should not be income tax payee. Besides this, the documents required for registrations include, Aadhaar Number, Mobile number, Aadhaar linked Bank account. Any worker can self-register on eshram.gov.in or go to the nearest common service centre or Saral Kendras.

Dedicated Helpline and Support: Workers can reach out to a dedicated helpline (toll-free) 14434 (8:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday to Saturday and 9.30 AM to 6.00 PM on Sunday)for any assistance related to the e Shram portal, ensuring that no worker is left behind due to technological barriers.
