GURDASPUR: Deputy Commissioner Mr. Mohammad Ishfaq today said that there would be no shortage of Dia Fertilizer for sowing wheat in the rabi season and there was no need for the farmers to worry about it.

He said that during the rabi season about 25000 metric tonnes of dia fertilizer is consumed and 5400 metric tonnes of fertilizer is available in the district. And two more racks are coming this week and there will be no shortage of fertilizer until November, when wheat sowing begins.
He appealed to the farmers not to panic and avoid using and storing manure as per the requirement.

The Deputy Commissioner said that in this regard he has already held a meeting with all the fertilizer wholesalers of the district. They have been instructed that those who charge more than the stipulated rate will not be spared and if any farmer has any problem he can bring it to the notice of the Agriculture Department or them.
He appealed to the farmers to use the fertilizer as per the opinion of the agriculture departments experts and to refrain from burning the crop residues after harvesting of paddy. He said that experts point out that in the fields where the crop residue is dumped in the soil and the next crop is sown, the yield of the crop also increases and the need for fertilizers etc.also decreases.
