CEO Pankaj Agarwal said that the preliminary voter list for the state has been published at all designated locations on August 2, 2024, following the EC of India's voter list revision program. He requested representatives of political parties to thoroughly review the list and report any errors by August 16 using Forms 6, 7, and 8 to the concerned election registration officer.

Agarwal was holding a meeting in Chandigarh with representatives of all recognised political parties to discuss the second revision of the voter list.

He stated that there will be a total of 20,629 polling booths for the upcoming Assembly elections, with 817 new booths created. In the last Lok Sabha elections, the state had 19,812 polling booths. Apart from this, 699 polling booths have been adjusted. The first-level checking of EVMs is being conducted by engineers from Bharat Electronics Limited in all 22 districts of the state. Political party representatives can be present during this checking by contacting their district office in charge.

He stated that special dates have been set for the preparation of the revised voter list August 3, 4, 10, and 11 (Saturdays and Sundays). Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be present at polling stations on these dates to assist people in registering to vote.
