AAP Ensured farmers’ prosperity and food security for the poor; people will endorse the ‘politics of work’: Harmeet Sandhu

Punjab Newsline, Tarn Taran-

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate for the Tarn Taran Assembly by-election Harmeet Singh Sandhu today asserted that this election will decide the future of Tarn Taran. He said that this election is a direct contest between the ‘politics of work’ of the AAP government and the ‘hollow promises’ of the opposition. Sandhu said that the people of Tarn Taran have now become aware and will cast their votes after seeing the development work done at the ground level.

Issuing a press statement, Harmeet Singh Sandhu presented the report card of CM Bhagwant Mann’s government. He said, “Our government has delivered what the previous governments only talked about. We have focused on improving the life of the common people at the grassroots level.”

Giving details, Sandhu said that ration has been delivered to 1,81,343 PH (Priority Household) cardholders and 5,585 Antyodaya Anna Yojana beneficiaries in the district. In just the last three months, the government ensured the distribution of 1,05,365 quintals of wheat so that no poor person goes to bed hungry.

Speaking on farmers’ issues, Sandhu said, “We have saved our farmers from suffering in the grain markets. During the wheat season, not only was the crop procured on time, but for the first time in history, farmers received full payment for their hard work directly into their accounts within the stipulated time.” He added that the entire system, from procurement to storage, was managed smoothly, something that the traditional parties could never accomplish.

Highlighting the government’s foresight, he said, “We are not only thinking about today but also planning for the future.” Under the crop diversification initiative, the area under paddy cultivation has been reduced and brought under Basmati cultivation. This year, 72,000 hectares have been brought under Basmati compared to 52,000 hectares last year, which Sandhu said is a major achievement of the government’s farmer-friendly agricultural policy.

Appealing to the voters of Tarn Taran, Harmeet Singh Sandhu said that all these works are just a glimpse of the development that has taken place under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. “I assure you that your vote will empower me further so that I can work with the government to double the pace of Tarn Taran’s development. I am confident that once again, the people will reject the traditional parties and only endorse the ‘politics of work’,” Sandhu said.
