Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted an alleged drug trafficking and illegal arms supply network with the arrest of three accused and the recovery of 10 pistols, 1.022 kg of heroin and a motorcycle. Preliminary investigations have raised suspicions that the network was in contact with smugglers based in Pakistan.

Police Commissioner Harmanbir Singh Gill said the operation was carried out in the Cantonment area of Amritsar. The seized weapons include three Glock 9 mm pistols and seven .30-bore pistols.

The arrested accused have been identified as Rajbir Singh alias Raja, Gautam alias Ajay and Ravi Sher Singh. According to the police, Rajbir works as a plumber, Gautam is employed as a bouncer, while Ravi Sher Singh works as a labourer.

Police records reportedly show that five cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act have previously been registered against Rajbir. Gautam is also reportedly facing two cases under the Arms Act.

According to preliminary investigations, the accused allegedly used Instagram to establish contact and coordinate the supply of illegal weapons. Police suspect that the weapons were being supplied to individuals involved in criminal activities, including those allegedly engaged in extortion.

Investigators also suspect that some members of the network were in contact with smugglers operating from across the border in Pakistan. However, the alleged cross-border links are still being investigated.

A case has been registered at the Cantonment police station. Police are now working to identify the network's upstream and downstream connections, establish the sources of the seized weapons and heroin, and determine whether other individuals were involved in the alleged illegal operations.
