Appeal to farmers not to set fire to wheat stalks

AMRIK SINGH | April 22, 2022 05:43 PM

FEROZEPUR: Mr Pirthi Singh Chief Agriculture Officer Ferozepur urges all the farmers of the district not to set fire to the wheat stalks as burning of wheat stalks would pollute the environment. At the same time the fertility of the soil decreases and the micro-organisms and organic matter present in the soil are destroyed.

He appealed to the farmers to sow green manure and corn after harvest of wheat. Applying the crop in the field after 40-55 days improves soil fertility and organic matter etc. and also saves 25 kg of nitrogen fertilizer per acre.

The seed of this device is available in the offices of all the Block Agriculture Officer District Ferozepur for the farmers on subsidy basis.
